JESSIE DEMERS

The Eden Grove Artist in Residence program and exhibitions were curated by Jessie Demers; an artist, arts administrator, independent curator and veteran forest protector living on Lekwungen Territory (Victoria BC). Demers has worked in arts administration since 2006, including 5 years as Curator and Education Programmer at the Nelson Museum, and 6 years as Arts Programmer with the District of Saanich. She holds a BFA from NSCAD University and a BEd from UBC.
Many people have volunteered their time to support the development of this project, from donating and setting up the tent (Kim Murray), website development (Connie Michele Morey and Tasha Lavdovsky), support for artists on site and advisory roles. It takes a whole community - much gratitude! |
ELDER BILL JONES

Pacheedaht Elder Bill Jones has welcomed forest protectors and artists to Pacheedaht Territory to find inspiration, nourish their souls, create artwork in response to their experience and assist in protecting the ancient forests. Jones has worked in service to his community and in the school system for many years, and he has built alliances with Indigenous leaders and environmentalists on local and international levels. He has been honoured as an Elder with the Lakota, and is an Elder with the Wisdom Weavers of the World.
